Systemic energy transition: Toward the future of a CO2-free energy supply using the example of Thuringia
for companies from industry and commerce as well as public/municipal utilities
Nachbericht
With the objective of “thinking and participating in climate-neutral industry,” around 70 guests came together at Kontor in Erfurt on February 6, 2020, to discuss the current status of the research project, ZO.RRO (Zero Carbon Cross Energy System). Information on the progress of the project and expert contributions on new business areas and ways to achieve climate targets led to fruitful exchanges among the potential demonstrators and multipliers. The cooperation and exchange of experiences in the joint project turned out to be important for the development of a climate-neutral industry in Thuringia.
Steffen Schlegel (TU Ilmenau) opened the event with a short presentation of the project status. After a keynote speech by Jens Jäger (dena) on challenges and solutions for paths to climate-neutral industry, Dr. Andreas Bergdoll (Trianel) spoke about new business models in the area of sector coupling. In two deep dive sessions focusing on “companies” and “municipal utilities”, practical examples were discussed, allowing for exchange and feedback on energy system models, decarbonization, CO2 savings and much more. Finally, Dr. Martin Gude (TMUEN) and Steffen Peschke (Thüringer Aufbaubank) presented funding opportunities for business.
ZO.RRO aims to develop a CO2-free energy system and wants to use Thuringia as an example in order to pioneer a systematic energy transition.
